Not sure if you saw my tweet from 2-3 weeks ago. Kyoto (on Lincoln [Chicago]) sold something like 2,300 $50 Groupons at $25 apiece and had to hire at least one extra person as a result of the effort.

$5 million in savings is a lot in one day….

I am reminded a little of the guy who comes home from work and says “honey, I just saved two bucks. I walked instead of taking the bus.” She responded: “you could have saved ten bucks by walking instead of taking a cab.”

Would you question their numbers more if you knew about their first VC? He founded a company called InnerWorkings and sent massive internal emails encouraging his employees to promote big, big numbers. So yeah, it’s a great concept, but it’s being run by the wrong people.
